Malt First brings together 12 beers brewed with local Admiral Malt, paired with Texas-style BBQ from Marin’s own Lone Mountain BBQ.
As part of California Gold Beer Week, this special tap takeover highlights one of beer’s most essential — and often overlooked — ingredients: malt.
Each of the 12 featured beers is brewed with fresh, locally grown grain from Admiral Maltings, with participating breweries showcasing a wide range of styles — all unified by a shared foundation in high-quality California malt.
To complement the lineup, Chris Stafford, Marin native and owner of Lone Mountain BBQ, will be serving Texas-style barbecue crafted to pair with the evening’s beers. Thoughtful brewing meets purposeful cooking — built around flavor, structure, and balance.
We’re also honored to welcome Dave McLean, Co-Founder of Admiral Maltings and founder brewer of Hidden Splendor, who will be on hand to share insight into California-grown grain and the role malt plays in shaping a beer’s character.
